Production and Shipping News & Brand New Podcast Interview
11 months ago – Fri, Jun 23, 2023 at 01:13:24 PM

Hey all!

While all of the prints, posters, and extras have already been delivered, I know that a lot of you are wondering about the core offering of this campaign—my career retrospective, Visual Feast.

The print files for all three Kickstarter editions have been ready for production since late January. If you missed that news, you can read all about the new chapter additions here. So, you’re probably wondering what the hold-up is.

Due to the success of this Kickstarter last year, I was able to secure a distribution deal with Ginkgo Press to get Visual Feast on some of the biggest shelves in the US! I will forever be grateful for all of your support, without which I would not have had this amazing opportunity to share my life’s work with an audience much larger than I could have imagined. However, it did take a while to work out the details of the agreement, adjust the book credits accordingly, and work out the logistics with the printer. These things take time.

Despite these timeline setbacks, we’re now finally in the last phase. I’m excited to share that we are officially going to print! I really appreciate your patience over the last few months. By printing all four editions at once, I’m able to keep costs down and ensure consistent quality for everyone who will enjoy Visual Feast in the years to come.

Based on my latest conversations with my production partner, we are now looking at a September ship date. Thank you all for your understanding and support throughout this process. It's been a learning curve for me along the way and I appreciate your patience with me on this journey.

In about two weeks, I’ll be updating the pledge manager with the shipping costs for the book. You will receive at least two reminders after that before your card is charged. My plan is to charge cards when I receive the final confirmation that production is complete, which should be around the end of July.

Note: Once cards are charged, addresses will be locked. Please take a moment to check your shipping address between now and then to avoid any unnecessary shipping delays!

As always, if you have any questions about your pledge, please reach out to me via DM here on Kickstarter or email at jhampton665 @ gmail.com.

Thank you!

-Justin

Visual Feast Prints Have Shipped! New Blotter print for sale soon!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Apr 17, 2023 at 07:31:53 PM

Hey there!

In my last update, I shared some behind-the-scenes pics from the Visual Feast printing process. Those posters-in-progress have since been signed, rolled, and shipped off to backers around the world. I’ve even seen a few posts from folks who’ve already received them! I hope you're as pleased with them as I am with how they turned out!

Visual Feast poster

And speaking of exciting trips, I wanted to share a little something I’ve been working on for the 80th anniversary of Bicycle Day.  In celebration of 'Bicycle Day' this Wednesday, April 19th, I'm releasing a new blotter art print. This is only my second blotter print ever, the last one was a decade ago. The very first recorded LSD 'trip' was  by Albert Hofmann, April 19, 1943. While synthesizing the new compound  of LSD, he accidentally absorbed a small amount of the drug and discovered its powerful effects. He rode his bicycle after realizing he should go home and his 'trip' unfolded on his ride while homeward bound.  This is the 80th anniversary of that fateful event. My print will not contain LSD obviously. Grab one while they last!

Along with this tripped out addition to the webstore, I’ve thrown together a collection of related prints and merch for lovers of this psychedelic party pal. If you didn't get a chance to grab a sticker set or one of the 'Visual Feast' posters, this is another shot at getting them all in one package. There are some Poster tubes ship for the same price no matter how well you stuff ‘em, so this is a great way to stock up on some of my latest prints and save on shipping. Check it out here!

As we wrap up for the day, I wanted to address a question that came in yesterday. A member of the community reached out to me to ask about the differences between the version of Visual Feast featured in this campaign and the one currently available on Amazon pre-orders for $67.13 (MSRP - $75). The most important difference is that this version does not include any of the Limited Edition upgrades available to Kickstarter backers.

This is part of the distribution deal that I made with Gingko Press. They've published many well known artists including Shepard Fairey, Emek and countless others.  When the books arrive stateside they will now also be available in major bookstores, museum gift shops, galleries and boutiques all over! It's a major coup for me to get my work out into the world.

The Ginkgo Press print run is NOT numbered or signed and DOES NOT come with a slipcase. All three versions of Visual Feast available to my supporters on this campaign include a unique slipcase design, shown below.

All in all, as members of the collector community, I believe you will be happier with the Kickstarter edition on your shelf. If you have any other questions regarding this topic or your pledge in general, please reach out to me via DM here on Kickstarter or email at jhampton665 @ gmail.com.

Visual Feast Prints Incoming and Shipping Update!!!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Mar 14, 2023 at 05:25:06 PM

Hey all!

You might recall that I postponed printing the Visual Feast posters until my go-to printer for complex designs was back in action. Well, I’m excited to share these printing process photos as the 9 color posters are now finished and are ready to rock and roll!

I’ll be signing and numbering these posters this week and shipping will begin over the weekend. That means it’s time to double and triple-check your address so your tube arrives safe and sound. All other items non-book items(stickers, mini-prints, other posters) that you ordered will ship with your Visual Feast poster. This poster is well worth the wait, they look dynamite in person! Thanks for your patience to all that ordered.

While I fire up my pen and do some wrist stretches, here’s a look at some process pics and a video of the printing of the poster.

On the book side of things, we are currently looking at fulfillment in late spring. My original goal was March, but since I just couldn’t seem to stop myself from adding more and more content and we’re now sitting at a whopping 444 pages, I had to push that back a bit. When production wraps up, I’ll be able to share more precise timelines, but for now, the estimate is mid to late June.

If you’re as excited about this massive book as I am, you’ll be happy to know that I’m working on an updated digital preview so you can get a sneak peek of the finished layout and design. Stay tuned for it in my next update!  Here's a little teaser for what's to come.

That’s all for today! Remember, if you have any questions at all about your pledge, please reach out to me via DM here on Kickstarter or email at jhampton665 @ gmail.com.

The Book Is Done!! (Take 2)
over 1 year ago – Mon, Jan 16, 2023 at 10:59:32 PM

As you probably remember, I made this bold declaration once before back in November. However, the holiday season jarred a few memories loose and I decided to add one more update to the comic book section and expanded some poster images into larger presentations. I had to make sure that Visual Feast lives up to its description—a complete retrospective on my thirty five years in the industry! It was just over thirty years of work that I was originally compiling when I started this project but after 4 years in the works now it's passed another milestone!

I gave it some thought and realized that had to include my 1st solo comic book work in the early nineties. Real Stuff was an American comic book written by the late; Dennis P. Eichhorn. His stories, were commonly about sex, drugs, and alcohol, have been compared to those of Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey, and Charles Bukowski. The 1st story I drew was called 'Sitting Duck' and was a madcap tale of his days selling LSD outside of Spokane, Washington in the 1970's. The story was my very first published work as a complete comic book artist in August of 1993. I penciled, inked and lettered the story in it's entirety by myself. I also created a full color piece for the back cover(above) of the issue. I also illustrated an second short story for Dennis that was published in Real Stuff #17 the following year in July of 1994. This story was about getting robbed in Hawaii by a police officer that found and took his marijuana for his own personal use under the guise of 'seizing evidence'. These stories were too great to NOT include in the book. You're welcome...haha!

Now that I’ve wrapped things up, it’s time to send off the latest book file to the printer to create a prototype book. Once I get that fully printed book sample in, you can expect tons of pics…and maybe even a video or two. All in all, the final result comes in at a whopping 440 pages!!! After I make sure everything looks good and that the quality control is up to snuff the book will go off to final print!

For those of you who ordered the large Visual Feast art prints, you’ll be happy to know that printing is underway. Your walls will be all the more epic in just a few short weeks!  Your package will also include the other Add-Ons(posters, art prints, stickers, etc) if you purchased more than just the single poster. The books will ship separately in spring as original described. If you need to update your address on Backerkit, please do so ASAP.

In other exciting news, I had the opportunity to have Kaz and Shea in my studio over the holidays to film a video interview for their Youtube channel, For The Record. Check it out for some insights on my inspirations, favorite collabs over the years, and tons of info on Visual Feast!

One last thing, I'm going to be offering up some of my 2013 Mark Lanegan 'Night Porter' handbills in VERY limited quantities tomorrow that I chanced upon in my archives. These are 6" x 9" foil variants of the US edition, signed by Mark and I. This is the purple & pink color scheme. There are literally only a handful that will be available. Grab one while you can!

On sale Tuesday, Jan 17th at 12 noon PST. They will go very fast.

That’s all for today. If you have any questions about your pledge, you can always reach me here or via email at [email protected]. Thanks for reading!

One More Reminder & Last Call For Holiday Orders! 🎁
over 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 12, 2022 at 10:43:08 PM

Hey, everyone!

I received my new stickers for the Visual Feast Kickstarter today, and I have to say that they printed killer! They're all 5"× 7"-ish clear backed vinyl stickers with back prints. Some are a little bigger, and some are a little smaller than that. All KS orders for prints, posters (minus the big Visual Feast poster), and stickers are being packed this week and going out over the weekend for holiday shipping. Read to the end for a sneak peek!

I wanted to post one last reminder that we will be charging cards for poster, print, and merch shipping costs this Wednesday, December 14th. I’m already working on packing these orders, so they should be hitting the mailstream with plenty of time to arrive for the holidays here in the states.

Just in case you missed my last update, this wave of shipping will not include any orders that include the Visual Feast Main or Holographic Swirl Edition prints. For more information on why that is, click here!

If you’re still on the hunt for a gift for your favorite music lover, remember that Backerkit shipping for posters, prints, and merch is all one flat rate, so you can add extras today or tomorrow without any added costs. If you’d like to do that, just revisit your Backerkit survey link and scope out the add-ons section.

Note: If you make ANY changes to your survey, make sure that you continue all the way to the end and hit “Place My Order!”. If you don’t, Backerkit will think that you’re still deciding on what you want and won’t put you on the ship list.

If you’re looking for even more options, my webstore is set to offer guaranteed shipping in time for the holidays for all orders placed by Friday, December 16th. Check it out here!

Thank you all for your continued support. Please let me know if you have any questions at all about your pledge. Have a great holiday season, folks!
